Rental Agreement

Identification & Security Deposit

A government-issued passport or national ID must be presented at the time of vehicle collection. A fully-refundable security deposit of ฿2,000 THB is collected at pick-up. This deposit is returned when the vehicle is brought back on time, undamaged, with the same fuel level, and with all issued accessories.

Vehicle Condition & Renter Responsibility

The renter accepts the vehicle in the condition inspected at collection and is fully accountable for its safe use throughout the rental period. Any damage, accident, or loss — regardless of circumstances — is financially the renter's responsibility. No insurance coverage is provided for the vehicle itself. Replacement values for common models are noted below for reference and will apply in cases of total loss or theft:

In case of an accident, Northern Rental will arrange a repair assessment. Should the renter dispute the cost, an independent assessment from an authorised dealership may be arranged at the renter's request. Rental charges continue to accrue until the vehicle is returned or repairs are completed.

Mechanical Faults & Tyres

We stand behind the condition of our vehicles. Genuine mechanical faults not caused by the renter will be addressed at no cost, provided the vehicle has not been modified or misused, and the renter contacts us before seeking outside repairs. Unauthorised repairs void this coverage. Tyre defects present at pick-up are our responsibility; tyres damaged during the rental are the renter's. Recommended tyre pressure: 30 psi.

Helmet, Key & Accessories

One helmet and one key are issued per rental. These remain the renter's responsibility. Replacement fees: standard key or helmet — ฿500 each; smart / remote key — ฿3,000. Northern Rental holds no liability for personal items stored in or on the vehicle.

Licence & Legal Compliance

Thai law requires riders to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) for motorcycles or a Thai motorcycle licence. Riding without one may result in police fines and may affect travel insurance eligibility. Northern Rental is not responsible for any fines, legal consequences, or third-party claims arising from unlicensed riding. The renter agrees to comply with all Thai traffic laws throughout the rental period.

Compulsory Third-Party Cover

All vehicles carry Thailand's mandatory Por Ror Bor compulsory cover, which provides basic medical protection for involved parties. This is not comprehensive insurance and has limits at the insurer's discretion. Northern Rental accepts no liability for medical costs, injury, or loss of life. Renters are strongly advised to hold their own travel insurance covering motorbike use.

Return & Late Policy

Vehicles must be returned to our shop during operating hours (09:00 – 21:00 daily) and inspected by staff before the rental is closed. Do not leave the vehicle unattended at your accommodation, with another person, or at any location other than our shop. Extensions must be approved in advance. Overdue returns are charged at ฿50 per hour, up to the full daily rate.

Online Booking & Cancellation

A booking deposit is required at the time of online reservation. This deposit is non-refundable upon cancellation. Rescheduling requests submitted at least 48 hours before the pick-up time will be considered subject to availability. Northern Rental reserves the right to cancel any booking and issue a full refund if the requested vehicle is unavailable.
